Barot is a Village near Mandi in Himachal it is one place you must visit without thinking any further. Barot is also developing into an angling destination.The Uhl river supports trout breeding and Barot has a few fish farms. Across the river Uhl is the Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary,home to goral, Himalayan black bear a variety of pheasants. here are 10 things to do in barkot.

Trek to Barot Valley

The Barot Valley trek is a popular activity among adventure enthusiasts. The trek takes you through beautiful forests and offers stunning views of the mountains and the river.

Visit the Uhl River

The Uhl River is a great place to relax and unwind. You can take a dip in the crystal clear water, go fishing, or simply enjoy a picnic by the riverbank.

Visit the Barot Dam

The Barot Dam is a popular attraction in Barot. You can take a walk around the dam and enjoy the scenic views of the reservoir and the surrounding hills.

Explore the Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary

Barot Temple

Shanan Hydel Project

Shanan Hydel project is the first hydro project in India with Megawatt capacity that is the main factor behind Barot Valley’s development. Developed by the Britishers in alliance with King Jogindernagar, this project is now under Punjab State Electricity Board. Your trip to Barot is not complete, unless you visit this project that is counted as one of the best places to visit in Barot.

Kareri Lake

Positioned at 10km from Barot, Kareri Lake is the main space where trekking is carried out. With amazing glacier water and mountain streams all round the year, the water running here is crystal clear. One simply has to follow the Nyund stream from the village that heads direct to the lake.

Kotla Fort

Overlooking the state highway that lies between Nurpur and Shahpur, Kotla Fort is located in close proximity to the town of Kangra. Constructed during the period of Gular Rajas, this fort is visited by history buffs and those who enjoy strolling through the thick pine forests. More rewarding is visit to the temple that is accompanied to Kotla Fort. Another important thing to be noted is that this fort is positioned 46.4 km from Barot.

Masroor Rock Temple

Located 47.4 km from Barot, the holy Masroor Rock Temple is well known for its remarkable rock cut temples. Constructed during the 8th century, this rock cut temples are intricately crafted with utmost elegance. Comprising of a stone image of Sita, Laxman and Ram, the main shrine also consists of figure of Shiva at the centre.
